July 20, 2005
FREMONT, Calif. – Stephen R. Schatz, 48, died unexpectedly July 1, 2005, in Fremont, Calif.

He was born to Robert and Patsy (McGee) Schatz on April 24, 1957, in Missoula.

He attended Rattlesnake Grade School for eight years and in 1975, graduated from Hellgate High School.

On March 31, 1979, he married a local girl, Glinda Truett. They moved to Bellingham, Wash., where he had bought into an employee-owned plywood mill. Being young and adventurous, they moved south to Seattle, where Steve served a sheet metal apprenticeship by day and went to a community college at night.

He bought a tiny house with a huge yard and being multitalented, took it upon himself to turn the wee house into a beautiful three-bedroom home.

Their first son arrived June 1, 1984. A second son was born Oct. 22, 1987. They bought a new home and shortly after Steve opened his own heating and air conditioning business.

Eventually Steve and Glinda divorced. He left the Seattle area and worked mostly in California and Alaska.

He is survived by his two sons, Patrick and “Charlie” of Seattle; his parents; brother, Brian of Missoula; and his brother, Jeff (Cheryl) and family (Nicholas and Jourdan) of the Clinton area.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. His ashes will be set free in the Puget Sound and Seeley Lake areas at a later date.
